Pre-Market Stocks Recap: Frontier Communications Corporation, (NASDAQ:FTR), Corning, (NYSE:GLW), Noble Corporation, (NYSE:NE)

Frontier Communications Corporation, was honored last night at the 2015 New York State Broadband Summit and Awards Ceremony in Albany. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo declared Frontier among the winners of the New York State Broadband Champion Awards that recognized leaders whose efforts expand broadband access across the state.

Frontier received two awards: The “Economic Leadership Award” for its broadband initiative with Hamilton County, bestowed for the successful implementation of an innovative, economically promising project to enhance the county’s social and economic fabric and quality of life; and the “Most Innovative Broadband Project Award” for its creativity in assisting the Town of Thurman connect to the Internet via white space technology.

Frontier Communications and Hamilton County partnered — with private capital from Frontier and a Connect NY broadband grant for Hamilton County — to provide improved high-speed Internet service to all communities in the county. “As a result of the project, 75 percent of the households in a 1,700 square mile portion of the Adirondack Park now have access to speeds of 12 to 40 Mbps,” noted Kevin Smith, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Frontier’s New York operations.

Finally, Noble Corporation plc (NYSE:NE), ended its last trade with -1.32% loss, and closed at $16.40, as oil prices were falling Friday due to concerns about oversupply before the release of the latest U.S. oil drilling data, according to the Wall Street Journal. Forecasts call for the global supply of crude oil to shrink due to growing demand and less drilling, but some U.S. companies said they can enhance production if oil prices remain above $60, accord to the Journal.

WTI crude oil for July delivery was down 1.3% to $59.99 a barrel Friday morning, and Brent crude oil for July delivery was down 1.2% to $64.33 a barrel.

Noble Corporation plc operates as an offshore drilling contractor for the oil and gas industry worldwide. It owns and operates a fleet of mobile offshore drilling units. As of December 31, 2014, the company operated a fleet of 15 jackups, 9 drillships, and 8 semisubmersibles, counting 1 high-specification, harsh environment jackup under construction.
