On Wednesday, Shares of Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:ABT), gained 2.61% to $48.35.

Abbott Laboratories, declared financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015.

First-quarter worldwide sales of $4.9 billion raised 10.0 percent on an operational basis, counting double-digit growth in emerging markets. Worldwide sales raised 3.0 percent on a stated basis.

Adjusted diluted EPS from ongoing operations, which excludes specified items, was $0.47 in the first quarter, above previous guidance range and representing growth of 38.2 percent. Stated diluted EPS from ongoing operations under GAAP was $0.35.

Abbott’s full-year 2015 adjusted EPS guidance range for ongoing operations remains unchanged at $2.10 to $2.20. Projected full-year 2015 EPS for ongoing operations under GAAP is $1.33 to $1.43.

In February, Abbott accomplished the sale of its developed markets branded generics pharmaceuticals business to Mylan. The Established Pharmaceuticals business is now focused entirely on emerging markets.

Abbott launched several new products starting this year, counting FreeStyle® Libre Pro Flash Glucose Monitoring System for professional use in India; new slim-designed blood glucose meter FreeStyle Precision Neo in the U.S.; TECNIS® Multifocal Low Add and TECNIS Preloaded intraocular lenses (IOLs) in the U.S.; a new drug-eluting stent system XIENCE AlpineTM in Japan; and Ensure® for retail adult nutrition in China.

In March, Abbott opened a new state-of-the-art nutrition pilot plant in Singapore, which also will serve as an R&D hub in Asia and allow Abbott to more rapidly incorporate local consumer preferences.

Abbott Laboratories manufactures and sells health care products worldwide. Its Established Pharmaceutical Products segment offers branded generic pharmaceuticals for the treatment of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency; irritable bowel syndrome.

Shares of CSX Corp. (NYSE:CSX), gained 2.57% to $36.26, during its last trading session.

CSX Corporation, was named one of Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2015, with a ranking of 50 in the company’s third appearance on the list. CSX was the only railroad named a Best Corporate Citizen.

In 2014, CSX and its employees lived the company’s Core Values by logging more than 24,000 volunteer hours and moving the most diverse business mix in company history. The company has also achieved successes in environmental sustainability, with record-high fuel efficiency allowing CSX to move one ton of freight 483 miles on one gallon of fuel.

CSX’s fifth annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which comprises all of these accomplishments and sets forward looking aims around responsible business practices, will be released in June.

CSX Corporation, together with its auxiliaries, provides rail-based transportation services in the United States and Canada. It offers traditional rail services, and transports intermodal containers and trailers.

At the end of Wednesday’s trade, Shares of Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE:NSC), gained 2.50% to $104.97.

Bruno Maestri and Robert E. Martίnez will assume additional responsibilities for Norfolk Southern Corp. (NSC). This follows the retirement of F. Blair Wimbush, the railroad’s vice president real estate and corporate sustainability officer. The changes are effective May 1, 2015.

CEO Wick Moorman said the changes are part of Norfolk Southern’s ongoing program of executive development and support the railroad’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and expand its market opportunities.

Maestri, vice president government relations and corporate communications, is named vice president government relations, corporate communications, and corporate sustainability officer, with office in Washington. His responsibilities comprise federal legislative and regulatory affairs, state relations, community affairs, and corporate communications, in addition to the new responsibilities regarding NS’ sustainability programs to improve locomotive fuel efficiency and emissions, energy use, land conservation, waste administration, and water conservation.

Maestri joined NS in 1995 and served in several positions regarding environmental administration and protection, and then public affairs, before being named to his most recent position in 2005. He holds degrees from the University of Virginia.

Norfolk Southern Corporation, together with its auxiliaries, engages in the rail transportation of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods. As of December 31, 2014, it operated about 20,000 miles of road in 22 states and the District of Columbia.

Finally, Cadence Design Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CDNS), ended its last trade with 2.50% gain, and closed at $19.30.

Cadence Design Systems, declared the new Cadence® Tensilica® Fusion digital signal processor (DSP) based on the proven Xtensa® Customizable Processor. This scalable DSP is ideal for applications requiring merged controller plus DSP computation, ultra-low energy and a small footprint. It can be designed into systems on chip (SoCs) for wearable activity monitoring, indoor navigation, context-aware sensor fusion, secure local wireless connectivity, face trigger, voice trigger and voice recognition. Optional Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) extensions are comprised of to accelerate multiple wireless protocols counting Bluetooth Low Energy, Thread and Zigbee using IEEE 802.15.4, SmartGrid 802.15.4g, Wi-Fi 802.11n and 802.11ah, 2G and LTE Category 0 release 12 and 13, and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).

The Tensilica Fusion DSP sets a new ultra-low-power benchmark using 25 percent less energy, based on running a power diagnostic derived from the Sensory Truly Handsfree™ always-on algorithm, when contrast to the current low-power Cadence Tensilica HiFi Mini DSP.
