Wednesday’s Active Stocks: Danaher Corp. (NYSE:DHR), New Gold, Inc. (NYSEMKT:NGD), Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ:VRTX), Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE)

On Wednesday, Shares of Danaher Corp. (NYSE:DHR), gained 1.57% to $87.35, hitting its highest level.

Danaher Corporation, declared its intention to separate the company into two independent, publicly traded companies. The transaction will create:

  • A science and technology growth company united by common business model characteristics, counting noteworthy recurring revenue and an attractive margin profile. The company will retain the Danaher name. Collectively, its businesses generated about $16.5 billion in revenues (counting Pall Corporation, which Danaher has signed a contract to acquire), in their most recently accomplished fiscal years.
  • A diversified industrial growth company (“NewCo”) with market leading positions, strong brand names and tremendous free cash flow generation. NewCo’s businesses generated about $6.0 billion in revenues in the most recently accomplished fiscal year.

Danaher Corporation designs, manufactures, and markets professional, medical, industrial, and commercial products and services worldwide. The company’s Test & Measurement segment provides test, measurement, and monitoring products that are used in electronic design, manufacturing, and technology development; hardware and software solutions to deploy, manage, and secure communication network technologies and services; and tools, toolboxes, and automotive maintenance equipment.

Shares of New Gold, Inc. (NYSEMKT:NGD), inclined 2.69% to $3.44, during its last trading session.

New Gold, declared the voting results from the election of its Board of Directors at New Gold’s Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders held on April 29, 2015 in Toronto , Ontario. The director nominees listed in the Administration Information Circular dated March 17, 2015 were elected as directors of New Gold at the Meeting.

New Gold Inc., a gold mining company, engages in the acquisition, exploration, development, and operation of mineral properties. It primarily explores for gold, silver, and copper deposits. The company’s operating properties comprise a 100% interest in the New Afton gold-copper mine in British Columbia, Canada; the Mesquite gold mine in California; the Peak gold-copper mines in New South Wales, Australia; and the Cerro San Pedro gold-silver mine in the state of San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

At the end of Wednesday’s trade, Shares of Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ:VRTX), gained 1.16% to $125.52.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals, declared that Jeffrey Leiden, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman, President & CEO of Vertex will present at the UBS Healthcare Conference in New York, NY on Tuesday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated engages in discovering, developing, manufacturing, and commercializing small molecule drugs for patients with serious diseases in specialty markets. The company focuses on developing and commercializing therapies for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF); and advancing its research and early-stage development programs.

Finally, Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE), ended its last trade with 1.56% gain, and closed at $32.

Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton recently named Sanford Panitch as President of International Film & Television. Panitch comes to SPE after serving as president of Fox International Productions, a division of 20th Century Fox.

As President of International Film & Television, Panitch will report directly to Lynton. He will oversee global film and television co-productions in addition to local language film and television productions. In international television, he will coordinate with Andrea Wong, President of International Production, Sony Pictures Television, who will continue with all her responsibilities supervising international television production.

Panitch joins SPE following a successful tenure at Fox. As the founding president of Fox International Productions, he oversaw all local production activities in 12 territories around the globe in Latin America, Europe, India and China. Fox International Productions is considered the most successful international film production division in the industry grossing more than $900M in global box office since its inception six years ago. Before establishing the division, Panitch served as President of Filmed Entertainment at New Regency and Executive Vice President of Production at 20th Century Fox.

Sony Corporation designs, develops, manufactures, and sells electronic equipment, instruments, and devices for consumer, professional, and industrial markets worldwide. It offers LCD televisions; home audio, Blu-ray disc players and recorders, and memory-based audio devices; compact digital, home-use video, and interchangeable single-lens cameras; and personal computers.
