Worth-Watching Stocks Alert: Penn Virginia (NYSE:PVA), Hercules Offshore, (NASDAQ:HERO), Freshpet, (NASDAQ:FRPT), Laredo Petroleum, (NYSE:LPI)

On Thursday, Penn Virginia Corporation (NYSE:PVA)’s shares gained 7.99%, and closed at $7.30.

On March 5, 2015, Scotia Howard Weil Research firm has upgraded Penn Virginia Corporation’s stock to “Focus Stock”, from “Sector Outperform.”

Penn Virginia Corporation, an independent oil and gas corporation, explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas in various onshore regions of the United States.

Hercules Offshore, Inc. (NASDAQ:HERO)’s shares jumped 7.75%, and settled at $0.49, during the last trading session on Thursday, following the company’s signing of a five-year contract with a partner of Eni S.p.A. for use of the Hercules 260 in West Africa. The dayrate under the contract will range from a minimum of $75,000 per day when the price of Brent crude oil is $86 or less per barrel, to a maximum of $125,000 per day when the price of Brent crude oil is $125 or more per barrel. Contract commencement is predictable in early April 2015. Costs for contract specific upgrades will be reimbursed by the operator.

Hercules Offshore, Inc., together with its auxiliaries, provides shallow-water drilling and marine services to the oil and natural gas exploration and production industry worldwide.

At the end of Thursday’s trade, Freshpet, Inc. (NASDAQ:FRPT)’s shares climbed 7.68%, and closed at $21.86, hitting new 52-week high of $22.08.

Last Tuesday, Freshpet, Inc., stated financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 2014.

Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2014 Highlights:

  • Net sales were $24.5 million, up 38.3% year-over-year.
  • Gross margin raised 1,270 basis points to 48.9%.
  • Adjusted EBITDA raised $1.7 million to $4.0 million.
  • Freshpet fridges raised 23.5% to 13,386 from 10,836.

Fiscal 2014 Highlights:

  • Net sales were $86.8 million, up 37.4% year-over-year.
  • Gross margin raised 560 basis points to 48.7%.
  • Adjusted EBITDA raised $5.7 million to $5.5 million.

Freshpet, Inc. manufactures and markets natural fresh foods, refrigerated meals, and treats for dogs and cats in the United States and Canada. The corporation offers its products under the Freshpet, Dognation, and Dog Joy names.

Laredo Petroleum, Inc. (NYSE:LPI), ended its Thursday’s trading session with 6.72% gain, and closed at $14.30.
