The British newspaper The Times reported that around 21,000 illegal immigrants arrived in the UK during 2022 by land, sea and air.
The newspaper, citing informed sources in the British Home Office, reported that last year authorities detained 55,000 illegal immigrants within 72 hours of their arrival.
She pointed out that they traveled to British territory on immigration boats and through airports and ports without any official documentation.
According to Home Office sources, the British authorities learned of the arrival of more than 20,000 illegal immigrants later when they applied for asylum.
Sources said: “About 21,000 people entered the country undetected to later apply for asylum.”
The entry of so many illegal immigrants into British territory calls into question the effectiveness of government measures to combat illegal immigration, the sources stressed.
