Active Stocks Highlights: Rice Energy Inc (NYSE:RICE), Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV), athenahealth, Inc (NASDAQ:ATHN), Cree, Inc. (NASDAQ:CREE)

Rice Energy will host a conference call on August 6, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern time (8:00 a.m. Central time) to talk about second quarter 2015 financial and operating results.

Shares of Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV), declined -0.04% to $105.27, during its last trading session.

The Travelers Companies, stated net income of $812 million, or $2.53 per diluted share, for the quarter ended June 30, 2015, contrast to net income of $683 million, or $1.95 per diluted share, in the preceding year quarter. Operating income in the current quarter was $806 million, or $2.52 per diluted share, contrast to $673 million, or $1.93 per diluted share, in the preceding year quarter. The enhance in net and operating income primarily resulted from lower catastrophe losses and a $32 million benefit from the resolution of preceding year tax matters, partially offset by lower net investment income. Per diluted share amounts also benefited from the impact of share repurchases.

“We are happy to report another strong quarter, with operating income of $806 million and operating return on equity of 14.2%,” commented Jay Fishman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Our results were driven by strong underwriting performance across all of our business segments, as reflected in our merged combined ratio of 90.8%, in addition to net investment income which was consistent with our expectations. We continue to deploy our capital first by seeking opportunities that offer attractive returns, and then by returning excess capital to shareholders. In the quarter, we returned almost $1 billion to shareholders, counting about $800 million in share repurchases.

The Travelers Companies, Inc., through its auxiliaries, provides a range of commercial and personal property, and casualty insurance products and services to businesses, government units, associations, and individuals in the Unites states and internationally. It operates in three segments: Business and International Insurance; Bond & Specialty Insurance; and Personal Insurance.

At the end of Friday’s trade, Shares of athenahealth, Inc (NASDAQ:ATHN), gained 5.25% to $128.97.

NewYork-Presbyterian, recognized by U.S. News & World Report as among the best academic medical centers in the nation, recently declared a new partnership with athenahealth, Inc. (ATHN), a leading provider of cloud-based services and mobile applications for medical groups and health systems. NewYork-Presbyterian, through its Physician Services Organization (NYPPSO), will provide the NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups (NYPMG) administration of their physician practices via implementation of athenahealth’s electronic health record (EHR), practice administration, and patient engagement services for more than 800 physicians and an additional 300 licensed professionals. Together, the organizations will focus on patient and physician centricity; enable industry-leading, innovative coordination of care; and advance population health administration initiatives across all regions.

Finally, Cree, Inc. (NASDAQ:CREE), ended its last trade with -0.61% loss, and closed at $24.32.

Cree, declared the new XLamp XHP35 family of LEDs with 50 percent more light output than Cree’s previous highest-performing single-die LED, setting a new performance standard for the 3.5mm footprint. Built on Cree’s SC5 Technology platform, the XHP35 LED introduces Cree’s breakthrough high-voltage power die architecture, empowering manufacturers to unleash the full capacity of extreme high power LEDs using existing drivers. The new XHP35 LED delivers up to 1,833 lumens without the optical inefficiencies of a multi-die LED to enable new designs with reduced size and lower system costs.
