Botafogo Coach Luis Castro Joins Al-Nasr
Introduction
Brazilian football club Botafogo has announced that its Portuguese coach Luis Castro will leave the team to coach Al-Nasr from Saudi Arabia led by compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.
Club Statement
The club said in a statement on Friday: “Botafogo has been informed by coach Luis Castro of his decision to accept an offer from a foreign club, which puts an end to his work as technical director of the team.”
Attractive Financial Offer
Castro, 61, said two weeks ago that he had received an attractive financial offer from Al-Nasr in Saudi Arabia with a two-year contract.
Official Announcement Pending
The Al-Nasr club has not yet officially announced the arrival of the Portuguese coach.
Castro’s Previous Experience
Previously, Castro led, among other things, the preparation of his compatriot Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk before his arrival in March 2022 at Botafogo, owned by American businessman John Textor, who also bought French Olympique Lyon this year.
Outstanding Players in Al-Nasr
The Al-Nasr team includes many outstanding players besides Ronaldo, such as Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo, and Argentine striker Gonzalo Martinez.
