US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the United States was looking forward to a visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, but did not give a specific date.
“The American side expects Wang Yi to visit the US and meet with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, but the exact date of the visit is not yet known,” Miller added.
And earlier, various media reported that senior US and Chinese officials discussed regional security and defense relations between the two countries in Washington.
And US Department of Defense spokesman Martin Meiners said earlier that Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Eli Ratner discussed with the director general of the Department of North American and Oceanic Affairs at the Chinese Department of Defense Foreign Affairs, Yang Tao, military relations between Beijing, Washington and regional security issues.
In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the Ukrainian crisis and issues of bilateral cooperation by telephone with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
