Cliffhanger Games, a newly established firm, is working on a new Black Panther video game, as Electronic Arts (EA) revealed today.

This July marks the 57th anniversary of Black Panther’s first appearance in a comic book, and to commemorate, we are happy to launch Cliffhanger Games, a new triple-A video game company. In conjunction with Marvel Games, a game production firm based in Seattle is working on an original Black Panther game that will be played from the third-person perspective by a single player. Our goal is to create a broad and responsive universe that allows players to feel what it is like to don the cloak of Wakanda’s guardian, the Black Panther.

In addition to veterans from top franchises like Halo Infinite, God of War, and Call of Duty, accomplished talent has already been assembled under the direction of Kevin Stephens (Monolith Productions), Cliffhanger’s leader. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a critically acclaimed and innovative video game. Cliffhanger has already brought together accomplished talent with leaders from that game.

“We are dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game,” the game developers said. “The Black Panther is the most iconic character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” Wakanda is a rich SuperHero sandbox. Our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,” said Kevin.
