Hazem Al-Menoufi, head of food, groceries and spices at the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, announced: “Prices for Al-Arusa tea, the most popular tea variety in Egypt, have risen.
He added in Cairo 24 that “the price of a 40-gram pack of Al-Arousa tea has increased by about 1 pound in Egyptian stores, to a record 8 pounds instead of 7 pounds.”
Al-Menoufi continued: “The price of a 250 gram pack of Al-Arousa tea has increased by about £5 in commercial stores in Egyptian markets to a record £45 instead of £40, explaining that the company has applied the new growth to all markets.”
Prices for local flour and beans recorded a decline in shops in Egyptian markets with an increase in the supply of these products in Egypt in the days leading up to the blessed Eid al-Fitr.
According to the Local and International Price Portal, the price of packaged fava beans decreased by around LE 1, equivalent to 2.5%, to reach LE 36.17 per kilogram in stores in Egyptian markets, while the price per kilogram of packaged pasta ranged from 21.51 EGP to 22.8 EGP in stores.
The price of flour in stores also fell by about 1 pound, equivalent to 4.5%, bringing the price per kilogram to 20.51 pounds, with a slight increase in the price of oils.
