Shares of Baker Hughes Incorporated (NYSE:BHI), gained 2.03% to $68.34, during its last trading session, ahead of the release of the oilfield industry service provider’s first quarter earnings results today before the market open, and after its projected merger partner, Halliburton (HAL), beat analysts first quarter expectations recently despite slumping oil sector prices.

Halliburton stated first quarter earnings of 49 cents per share, a 33% decline from the same period last year amid what the company described as an “unprecedented decline in drilling activity”, beating analysts’ expectations of 37 cents per share by 12 cents. Revenue for the period fell 3.4% to $7.05 billion, also coming out ahead of analysts’ $6.96 billion consensus forecast.

Baker Hughes Incorporated supplies oilfield services, products, technology, and systems to the oil and natural gas industry worldwide. The company offers drilling and evaluation products and services, which comprise drill bits for performance drilling, hole enlargement, and coring; conventional and rotary steerable systems used to drill wells; measurement-while-drilling and logging-while-drilling systems to perform reservoir navigation services.

At the end of Monday’s trade, Shares of AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV), gained 2.01% to $63.54.
