Momentum Stocks in Focus - Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT), Ambarella, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMBA)

On Friday, Shares of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), lost -1.97% to $44.82.

The Board of Directors of Verizon Communications declared a quarterly dividend of 56.5 cents per outstanding share, an improvement of 1.5 cents per share, or 2.7 percent, from the previous quarter. On an annual basis, this improvements Verizon’s dividend by 6 cents per share, from $2.20 to $2.26 per share.

The quarterly dividend is payable on Nov. 2, 2015, to Verizon Communications shareowners of record at the close of business on Oct. 9, 2015.

This is the ninth successive year Verizon’s Board of Directors has approved a quarterly dividend improvement.

Verizon has about 4.1 billion shares of common stock outstanding. The company made $4.3 billion in cash dividend payments in the first half of 2015.

Verizon Communications Inc., through its auxiliaries, provides communications, information, and entertainment products and services to consumers, businesses, and governmental agencies worldwide.

Shares of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT), declined -1.50% to $63.89, during its last trading session.

  • A1C – a test that measures your average blood sugar level over the past three months
  • Glucose – a test that measures the current amount of sugar in your blood4
  • Blood pressure
  • Total cholesterol
  • HDL (good cholesterol)
  • Risk ratio
  • Body mass index (BMI)

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. operates retail stores in various formats worldwide. The company operates through three segments: Walmart U.S., Walmart International, and Sam’s Club.

Finally, Ambarella, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMBA), ended its last trade flat, and closed at $73.24.

Ambarella declared financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended July 31, 2015.

  • Revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2016 was $84.2 million, up 79.3% from $47.0 million in the same period in fiscal 2015. For the six months, ended July 31, 2015, revenue was $155.2 million, up 76.6% from $87.9 million for the six months ended July 31, 2014.
  • Gross margin under U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for the second quarter of fiscal 2016 was 65.1%, contrast with 65.0% for the same period in fiscal 2015. For the six months ended July 31, 2015, GAAP gross margin was 64.9%, contrast with 63.9% for the six months ended July 31, 2014.
  • GAAP net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2016 was $23.1 million, or $0.68 per diluted ordinary share, contrast with GAAP net income of $9.3 million, or $0.29 per diluted ordinary share, for the same period in fiscal 2015. GAAP net income for the six months ended July 31, 2015 was $42.0 million, or $1.25 per diluted ordinary share. This compares with GAAP net income of $14.6 million, or $0.46 per diluted ordinary share, for the six months ended July 31, 2014.

Ambarella, Inc. develops semiconductor processing solutions for video that enable high-definition (HD) video capture, sharing, and display worldwide. The company’s system-on-a-chip designs integrated HD video processing, image processing, audio processing, and system functions onto a single chip for delivering video and image quality, differentiated functionality, and low power consumption.
