Pre-Market News Report on: Celator Pharmaceuticals, (NASDAQ:CPXX), E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, (NYSE:DD), U.S. Bancorp, (NYSE:USB)

On Wednesday, Shares of Celator Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPXX), surged 23.66% to $2.77.

Celator Pharmaceuticals, declared final induction response rate results (complete remission plus complete remission with incomplete hematologic recovery, or CR+CRi) in the Phase 3 study comparing CPX-351 (cytarabine:daunorubicin) liposome injection to the standard of care regimen, referred to as 7+3 (conventional cytarabine and daunorubicin treatment), in patients with untreated high-risk (secondary) acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The results showed that CPX-351 produced a relative improvement in induction response rate of 43.2% (47.7% for CPX-351 vs. 33.3% for the 7+3 regimen).

Data on overall survival, the primary endpoint, are predictable in the first quarter of 2016. However, induction response rate is a key secondary endpoint in the study and has been an important surrogate of overall survival and clinical benefit in this patient population. These data validate the induction response rates observed in the Phase 2 study, which was associated with a marked improvement in overall survival.

On June 23, DuPont Pioneer (DuPont) declared a technology license and research partnership agreement with Vilnius University to further the technical and commercial utility of guided Cas9 genome editing technology. Under the agreement, DuPont receives an exclusive license to Vilnius University intellectual property for all commercial uses, counting in agriculture. In addition, Vilnius University and DuPont have reached a multi-year research partnership to advance the development of the technology.

A team of scientists from the Vilnius University Institute of Biotechnology was one of the first groups to discover that the Cas9 protein could be repurposed to precisely edit targeted sections of an organism’s DNA to achieve a specific outcome. In plants, this can comprise promoting drought tolerance and disease resistance for protecting plant health and increasing crop yields.

Preceding to this role, Dominski worked within several businesses at Target counting: merchandising, sourcing, stores, and merchandise planning.

Dominski is an active volunteer, presently serving as a member of the national advisory board for Strive Together. She formerly served on the executive committee and leadership council for Generation Next. Dominski has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan.
