The Coca-Cola Company, is investing an unrevealed amount to a $500 million fund to develop a global communications system that would deliver affordable broadband services in the developing world, according to American City Business Journals.
The funding will allow London-based OneWeb to further develop key technologies to enable affordable broadband in rural locations and underdeveloped locations. American City Business Journals Reports.
Besides Coca-Cola, Airbus Group, Bharti Enterprises, Hughes Network Systems, Intelsat, Qualcomm Inc., the Virgin Group, and Totalplay have invested in OneWeb’s $500 million fund.
The Coca-Cola Company, a beverage company, manufactures and distributes various nonalcoholic beverages worldwide. The company primarily offers sparkling beverages and still beverages. Its sparkling beverages comprise nonalcoholic ready-to-drink beverages with carbonation, such as carbonated energy drinks, and carbonated waters and flavored waters.

Through a partnership with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, McDonald’s Corporation, declared a global commitment to enhance customers’ access to fruit and vegetables and assist families and children make informed choices in keeping with balanced lifestyles at the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting. McDonald’s made five specific commitments in 20 major markets, counting the U.S., representing more than 85% of the company’s global sales. The commitment spans through the year 2020 with interim aims in 2016 and 2018 and the final aim of fulfilling all commitments in all 20 markets by 2020.
Recently, Keybridge, a public policy economic consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., released the first annual report on McDonald’s progress. The company retained Keybridge to independently verify progress on these commitments in a clear and transparent manner. The verification effort was piloted in the U.S. and Italy and indicates that both markets are well-positioned to meet all of the commitments by 2020.
McDonald’s Corporation operates and franchises McDonald’s restaurants in the United States, Europe, the Asia/Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Canada, and Latin America. The company’s restaurants offer various food products, soft drinks, coffee, and other beverages.
