Pre-Market Stocks Roundup: Bank of America Corporation, (NYSE:BAC), Staples, (NASDAQ:SPLS), Macy’s, (NYSE:M)

On Tuesday, Shares of Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC), gained 1.35% to $17.31, as financial stocks were holding moderate gains Tuesday, with the NYSE Financial Sector Index rising 0.2% and the S&P Financial 100 Index adding 0.6%.

During Tuesday’s trade, 82,105,358 shares exchanged hands as compared to its average daily volume of 74,225,500. The company holds the market capitalization of $181.79B.

Bank of America Corporation, through its auxiliaries, provides banking and financial products and services for individual consumers, small and middle market businesses, institutional investors, large corporations, and governments worldwide.

Shares of Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS), declined -1.04% to $16.22, during its last trading session.

A unique initiative created by Staples, Inc., gives students a chance to assist create and design school products that solve real-life problems. Staples’ first Designed by Students program let students from two middle schools, MS88 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Ga. take part in a curriculum to foster creative thinking and teach students about designing innovative products. The program provides an original, educational experience to students. Staples is donating $50,000 to both schools as part of the program.

“Staples is empowering students to make more happen through research, partnershipand entrepreneurial thinking,” said Scott Young, senior vice president of product and business development, Staples. “The first Designed by Students program gave students the opportunity to learn and solve real-life problems. Students were able to see how their ideas and creativity transformed into innovative new products.”

Students from MS88 and Ron Clark Academy collaborated on sixteen different teams to develop a new line of innovative school supply products to bring to customers. Students at the schools defined the problem, researched products, collaborated to identify potential solutions, built prototypes and pitched a final design concept, all the while learning valuable skills and gaining confidence in their everyday life.

Staples, Inc., together with its auxiliaries, operates office products superstores. It operates through three segments: North American Stores & Online, North American Commercial, and International Operations. The company offers a range of office supplies, business technology products and services, facility and breakroom supplies, computers and mobility products, and office furniture under the Staples, Quill, and other proprietary brands.

Finally, Macy’s, Inc. (NYSE:M), ended its last trade with 0.23% gain, and closed at $69.13.

Macy’s, declared two additional pilot store locations in metro New York City for Macy’s Backstage, an off-price business that is one of the company’s key growth initiatives.

Together with four initial pilot locations declared last month, these two additional stores will bring to six the total number of Macy’s Backstage for launch. All are predictable to open in fall 2015 and average about 30,000 square feet.

Pilot locations being declared recently are:

  • Fordham Place, 400 East Fordham Road, The Bronx, NY
  • Essex Green Shopping Center, West Orange, NJ.
