Stocks Losing their Charm: The Manitowoc Company, (NYSE:MTW), Kohl’s Corp, (NYSE:KSS), ImmunoGen, (NASDAQ:IMGN), Freescale Semiconductor, (NYSE:FSL)

On Friday, Shares of The Manitowoc Company, Inc. (NYSE:MTW), dropped -2.86% to $19.39.

The Manitowoc Company, declared recently that it will release its first-quarter 2015 financial results on Wednesday, April 29, after the close of market. The company’s first-quarter results will also be discussed by Manitowoc’s administration team during a live conference call for security analysts and institutional investors, which will be held at 10:00 a.m., Eastern Time, on Thursday, April 30.

The Manitowoc Company, Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells cranes and related products, and foodservice equipment worldwide. The Cranes and Related Products segment offers lattice-boom cranes, counting crawler and truck mounted lattice-boom cranes, and crawler crane attachments.

ImmunoGen, stated financial results for the three-month period ended March 31, 2015 – the third quarter of the Company’s 2015 fiscal year. ImmunoGen also offered an update on its product pipeline and financial guidance.

Pipeline Updates

  • Mirvetuximab soravtansine, a potential new therapy for many cases of ovarian cancer in addition to for endometrial cancer and other solid tumors that highly express folate receptor α (FRα); wholly owned by ImmunoGen.
  • This ADC now has received orphan designation in ovarian cancer in the EU in addition to in the US.
  • Initial findings with mirvetuximab soravtansine – used as a single agent – to treat FRα-positive platinum-resistant ovarian cancer will be presented at the 2015 ASCO Annual Meeting. The data are from a disease-specific Phase 1 cohort. ImmunoGen plans to initiate a Phase 2 trial in this indication by the end of 2015 that could potentially support an accelerated registration pathway.

  • Assessment of mirvetuximab soravtansine for the treatment of FRα-positive relapsed/ refractory (R/R) endometrial cancer is ongoing. ImmunoGen is preparing to also assess it for FRα-positive R/R non-small cell lung cancer.
  • In addition to the every three week dosing plan being used in the disease-specific testing underway, dose-finding with a weekly dosing regimen is advancing. The findings to date also have been accepted for presentation at ASCO.

First Quarter Highlights

Net sales for the first quarter of 2015 were $1.17 billion, contrast to $1.10 billion in the fourth quarter of 2014 and $1.13 billion in the first quarter of 2014.

Operating earnings for the period were $179 million, contrast to $178 million in the fourth quarter of 2014 and $155 million in the first quarter of 2014. Operating earnings were in line with the preceding quarter. On a year-over-year basis, operating earnings benefitted from higher sales and improving gross margins. Comprised of in first quarter 2015 operating earnings were $26 million of reorganization of business costs, which was an enhance over the preceding quarter and comprised of severance in addition to costs associated with the company’s planned merger with NXP Semiconductors.

Net earnings for the first quarter were $70 million, or $0.22 per share, contrast to net earnings of $63 million, or $0.20 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2014 and a net loss of $23 million, or $(0.08) per share, in the first quarter of 2014. Adjusted net earnings improved sequentially due to improving sales and higher gross margins. On a year-over-year basis, adjusted net earnings improved due to higher sales, improving gross margins and lower interest expense.
