Active Stocks : Hovnanian Enterprises, (NYSE:HOV), Masco (NYSE:MAS), Axiall (NYSE:AXLL), Aramark (NYSE:ARMK)

On Monday, Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:HOV)’s shares inclined 0.75% to $2.69.

Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. (HOV) which has witnessed a noteworthy price decline in the past four weeks, and it has seen negative earnings estimate revisions for the current quarter and the current year. A Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) further confirms weakness in HOV.

A key reason for this move has been the negative trend in earnings estimate revisions. For the full year, we have seen 1 estimate moving down in the past 30 days, contrast with no upward revisions. This trend has caused the consensus estimate to trend lower, going from earnings of 4 cents a share a month ago to its current level of a loss of 5 cents.

Also, for the current quarter, Hovnanian Enterprises has seen 1 downward estimate revision as compared to no revisions in the opposite direction, dragging the consensus estimate down to the break-even point from 4 cents over the past 30 days.

The stock also has seen some pretty dismal trading lately, as the share price has dropped 12.5% in the past month.

So it may not be a good decision to keep this stock in your portfolio anymore, at least if you don’t have a long time horizon to wait.

Masco Corporation (MAS) declared that its Board of Directors has approved the formerly-declared spin-off of TopBuild Corp. (BLD), which will, upon completion of the spin-off, hold the assets and operations of Masco’s Installation and Other Services businesses.

In the spin-off, Masco will distribute 100% of the shares of common stock of TopBuild. The distribution of TopBuild shares is predictable to be accomplished after the New York Stock Exchange market closing on June 30, 2015, with Masco stockholders receiving one share of TopBuild common stock for every nine shares of Masco common stock held at the close of business on the record date of June 19, 2015. At the end of Monday’s trade, Axiall Corp (NYSE:AXLL)‘s shares surged 5.56% to $39.70.

Axiall Corp (AXLL) could be a stock to avoid from a technical perspective, as the firm is seeing unfavorable trends on the moving average crossover front. Recently, the 50 Day Moving Average for AXLL broke out below the 200 Day Simple Moving Average, suggesting short-term bearishness.

This has already started to take place, as the stock has moved lower by 6.4% in the past four weeks. And with the recent moving average crossover, investors have to think that more unfavorable trading is ahead for AXLL stock.

If that wasn’t enough, Axiall isn’t looking too great from an earnings estimate revision perspective either. It appears as though many analysts have been reducing their earnings expectations for the stock lately, which is usually not a good sign of things to come.
